The Heart Behind the Oven
My name is Kiley, and I’ve been a licensed veterinary technician for almost nine years. A couple of years ago, I stumbled into the joy of baking, and it quickly became one of my favorite pastimes. What started as late-night kitchen experiments — usually lit by a single lamp and the soft glow of my laptop while I took breaks from reading or writing — slowly turned into something much bigger. Brown butter, sugar, and flour became my way to clear my head, and before long my coworkers were insisting I take baking more seriously.
With their encouragement, and a whole lot of love from my family, Little Mouse Bakery was born.
As a lifelong cat enthusiast, the name came naturally. I have three kitties, and this bakery is named after one of them — Fievel Mousekewitz, though around here he mostly goes by Little Mouse. I always imagined a bakery that felt like stepping into the pages of a favorite book: cozy, welcoming, and full of treats that feel like they each have their own little story.
What began as sharing cookies with friends and neighbors has grown into custom birthday orders, wedding tastings, and a small-batch bakery where everything is made with care and intention. When I’m not in the kitchen or at the clinic, you can usually find me spending time with my family, writing, or curled up with a good book and one of my cats — especially the little one who inspired it all.

Before Little Mouse Bakery had a menu, a logo, or a name, it had a cat perched nearby — watching every swirl of batter, every tray that slid into the oven, and every crumb that dared to fall to the floor.
In true feline fashion, this quiet companion became the nightly audience for Kiley’s earliest experiments: the first cinnamon roll batches, the earliest lemon loaves, and the muffins that became neighborhood favorites.
The bakery’s name and whimsical style are shaped by that presence — gentle, curious, always nearby. A reminder that creativity is often born in quiet, cozy corners… usually with a cat watching over it.
